Dear Collingwood students and community,
It is with great pleasure that I advise you that Collingwood College has been selected as a Regional Winner in our Category for the Victorian Schools Garden Awards. As a regional winner, our school will receive a $350 prize voucher, and will also go in the running to win one of the top prizes.
The next stage of the awards is for the Judges to visit each of the Regional Winners in each category to select the State Winners, the Pink Heath Award, and the Kevin Heinze Perpetual Award.
The judges will be traveling by helicopter, and have been scheduled to arrive at our school on Wednesday 23rd of October at 1.40pm, where they will spend approximately one hour looking at our school garden and speaking to students about their involvement.
The judges received a great many entries from schools around the State in response to the Awards, many of which demonstrated some wonderful initiatives in outdoor education – our school should be very proud with our achievement. Presentation Day will be held at the Royal Botanic Gardens in early December.
Well done Collingwood College students, teachers, Ben, Trevor and community! This is the 4th time we have won this award and it is a testament to our K.G program, classroom curriculum and whole school grounds development, that we have also received additional awards each year in sustainable/garden education.
