Year 11EAL excursion to the Melbourne Writers Festival

IMG_2723

Last week the year 11 EAL students had the wonderful opportunity to visit the Immigration Museum exhibition Identity: Yours, Mine, Ours and participate in a writing workshop facilitated by Melbourne author Alice Pung as part of the Melbourne Writers Festival. As part of outcome two, Creating & Presenting, students have been investigating the context, ‘Identity & Belonging’, with the reference to the text “Growing up Asian in Australia”.  As the editor of this book, Alice Pung was able to offer a greater understanding of the themes and ideas explored in the text as well as challenging the students to consider the experiences of their life and how these can inform their writing.
