The SRC have been having a bit of a calmer time since the momentum of the Spring Fair, but they are still quietly working behind the scenes with school based activities. A couple of weeks ago, they participated in the ‘Walk to School’ morning by assisting in a free breakfast for all students that walked or rode to school. It was a great turnout and delicious pancakes and fresh fruit was devoured enthusiastically by the masses. Fresh orange juice was energetically squeezed by the team and even though the peeling of what felt like a never ending amount of oranges was sincerely felt by the SRC volunteers, it really was worth it, producing the sweet, fresh orange juice that was such a hit.
The SRC representatives are still collecting money from the students that participated in the 40 Hour Famine, so it would be great if those students that were involved in this worthy cause could please hand their money into the office or their home group teachers as soon as possible.
Saturday week (November 29th) is an election day and the SRC will be providing a barbecue on that day hoping to raise some funds. As well as this, another event on the agenda will be the Year 7 Orientation Day where grade six students will be partaking in a Transition program and the SRC will be providing morning tea and a barbecue for these students.
The senior leaders of the SRC are part of a PAG team (Principal’s Advisory Group) and they connected with Dale last week to have a conversation with him about where they are heading and areas that are being focused on. It is great for the SRC to have a ‘voice’ and open communication with the Principal. They certainly feel valued and appreciate the opportunity to be heard.
It is a quieter second half of the term, but meetings and discussions are still going on with the SRC representatives as we reflect and continue to be an active entity within the school.
